The Class of 2021 Bachelor Science in Architecture will be launching the inaugural COGnitii 2021 Virtual Exhibition in the month of February 2021. COGnitii is planned as a digital repository for documenting the conceptual design philosophies development for ARC4902 Topical Studies course. COGnitii 2021 is led by students Cheah Wing Shen and Mariani Mohammad Dini as its first Exhibition Curators. They are assisted by Muhammad Najmi Zesdyzar and Maram Yasser respectively as Catalogue Editors, while the COGnitii virtual space is designed and prepared by Tey Jin Hong and Muhammad Afiq Saharuddin. The Department is proud that all the 48 students from the ARC4902 Topical Studies course had contributed individual artifacts. These artifacts are prepared in tandem with the ARC3016 Architectural Design Studio works which focus on the township of Shah Alam and Kajang.

Earlier during planning teaching activities for 2020/2021, the Department of Architecture has put forth a challenge to the course coordinators for Academic Year 2020/2021 to find ways in initiating bringing in humaneness especially into the studio design process. The point being, architecture education will start requiring students to be self-compelled to look deeper into their selves and of others when they are in their built environment. For this first virtual exhibition, artifacts were prepared in course works to tell the story how students would take the meanings from their perceptive experiences while they were in the townships’ context. Each meaning represents a cognitii each. The cognitii would eventually drive the development of an architectural conceptual philosophy which could be translated into architectural representations of their studio project.
