developing A CREATIVE STUDENT COMMUNITY FOR SUSTAINABLE TROPICAL ARCHITECTURE WORLD

Established in 2000, the Department of Architecture at Universiti Putra Malaysia started with the Bachelor of Design (Architecture) program. The program since then had been reviewed several times to ensure that the curriculum is up to date and meeting the requirements of the current market. Focussing on the issue of ‘green’ design especially for tropical countries, the department has groups of expertise in various areas either technical or philosophical to support the learning process in the program. Currently, the Architecture Department offers Bachelor of Science in Architecture with Honours (3 ½ years) and Master of Architecture (2 years) Programs which have been accredited by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia. Apart from that, the Department also offers Master in Construction Technology Management- MCTeM (1 year), and research based programs for Master of Science (Architectural Studies) and Doctor of Philosophy (Architectural Studies).
