FRSB students won two gold 'ASEAN Autodesk Design Competition'

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 - Two students Bachelor SainsSeni Architecture, Faculty of Design and Architecture (FRSB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Yap Heng Hee and Tan Mei Shan won the gold medal in the category of architectural competitions ASEAN Autodesk Design Competition 2015.

 

They won the gold through Amphibious Habitat project of design a smart home to face the flood situation.

 

The competition was organized by a Singapore company and sponsored by Autodesk, and involving participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.

 

 Heng Hee said, Amphibious Habitat designed the result of the inspiration of traditional Malay houses.

 

He said the design of the prototype is intended to house the area at the confluence of Sungai Damansara and Sungai Pahang in Temerloh, that almost every year the floods.

 

He said the concept of the house is wood floors with a total area of ​​about 40 square meters and comfortably occupied by three people, and the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, rainwater collection systems and water filtration systems 'bio-sand' to get clean water, and aquaponic technology to defend fish.

 

"Is bamboo poles, while 'Concrete mooring post' is a structure used for flotation mechanism. The house was built on 'stilts concrete detached' house to accommodate strain when it is floating, "he said in an interview.

 

He said furniture multipurpose (multifunctional furniture) used in the home to enable flexible use of space.

 

According to him, in order to produce Amphibious habitat, they do a case study a few days in early 2015 on the design of the house in the Netherlands, a country of sea water level is higher than the mainland.

In addition to the gold medal and certificate, they also receive sponsorship for joining Autodesk Panaroma Bootcamp in Singapore from 21 to 25 March 2016, participated by Asian countries.

 

Mei Shan was surprised to find out from Heng Hee that they won the gold medal match of the ASEAN Autodesk's Design Competition.
