TEACHING AND LEARNING FACILITIES

Some of the facilities provided to facilitate teaching and learning in the faculty include:-

LECTURE HALL

A modern and comfortable lecture hall, which can accommodate 250 people, is also available. This is use by students for lectures, seminars, talks, and cultural events. The hall is equipped with a high-end audio-visual facility, motorized screen and LCD.

LECTURE ROOMS

The faculty is well equipped with spacious and comfortable lecture rooms that can accommodate 60 students each. These rooms are fitted with the modern teaching aids to facilitate learning such as computers, LCD, projector screens, white boards, etc. All lecture rooms are fully air-conditioned and fitted with wireless microphone and speakers.

TEACHING STUDIOS

Studios are part and parcel of design teaching and learning. Students spend long hours in their studios. Safe and comfortable teaching studios are, therefore, essentials for the teaching and learning and for students to do their creative work. Students are assigned to studios according to their respective programs and year of study. All studios are air-conditioned and equipped with drafting tables and chairs, lockers, pantries, working spaces, computer nodes, and places for discussions as well as resting.

WORKSHOPS

The faculty also has a number of workshops which provide opportunities for students to get hands-on experiences in creating and constructing products. These workshops are under the supervision of competent and helpful technical staffs. The Faculty's has several workshops include metal, woodwork, as well as a brick and concrete workshops.

COMPUTER FACILITIES

There are ample computers for students to use in the designated teaching computer laboratories as well as a general computer facilities that are made available during office hours with wireless internet connection. Students in the faculty can have access to the wireless internet connection anywhere and at any time in the faculty.

LABORATORIES

There a number of teaching and research laboratories attached to each department in the faculty. These include the LANGIS Laboratory, the Landscape Behaviour, Social, and Culture Laboratory, Plant Science and Landscape Ecology Laboratory, etc. A number of graduate students are also attached to these laboratories to conduct their research.

ART AND DESIGN GALERY

The Galeri Serdang holds regular art and design exhibitions of works by nationally and internationally prominent artists and designers as well as outstanding works by FRSB’ own staffs and students. Works exhibited in the gallery may be documented and published in the Indexed Virtual Library of Museum Pages (VLMP).

SEMINAR ROOM

The seminar room can accommodate about 40 people and is equipped with adequate mini conference facilities for seminars, meetings, and discussions.

LANDSCAPE PLANT NURSERY AND MINI ARBORETUM

The landscape nursery has the largest collection of landscape plants ranging from trees to groundcovers. The whole of FRSB campus is planted with a variety of landscape and fruit trees and other plants and it is a mini arboretum for teaching and research. It is used mostly by landscape architecture students for their plant identification and landscape management courses.

EXPERIMENTAL FIELD PLOT

Experimental field plots for conducting research in landscape and related areas are available in the nursery area. Research conducted include root mechanics, slope stabilisation, etc.
